Periodontal Treatment & Gum Disease Therapy

Healthy gums are the foundation of healthy teeth. Periodontal (gum) disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults, but it is treatable when caught early. If you have bleeding gums, bad breath, or receding gum lines, our team provides non-surgical therapy to halt the infection and restore your oral health.

Link to Parent Silo: As part of our General Dentistry program, we aggressively treat gum infection to protect your systemic health.

Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)

The most common treatment for gum disease is a "deep cleaning." This involves two steps:

  • Scaling: Removing tartar from above and below the gum line.

  • Root Planing: Smoothing the tooth roots to help gums reattach and prevent bacteria from collecting again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between gingivitis and periodontitis?

Gingivitis is early, reversible gum inflammation. Periodontitis is advanced disease that attacks the bone and tissue supporting the teeth, requiring professional treatment.

Does gum disease treatment hurt?

We use local anesthetic to numb the area during deep cleanings, ensuring you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
